The Flâneur d'Or, awarded by Pedestrian Mobility Switzerland with the support of the Federal Roads Office, recognizes exemplary pedestrian projects in Switzerland.
The Cantonal Museum of Fine Arts (MCBA) in Lausanne defines a new urban space which establishes a symbolic dialogue with the site's industrial railway history. On the outside, the building is characterized by its monolithic and elongated volume. Inside, large-span prefabricated slabs are supported by deep beams made of prestressed concrete. This structural solution provides vast column-free exhibition spaces.
The roof structure is made of steel girders whose geometry was refined to harmonize with the complex system of three-dimensional sheds for zenithal lighting and the passage of ventilation ducts.
